The term "poison" in most cases, in the old fashioned way, means powdered products such as dusts or special crayons that are used to treat the corners and baseboards of rooms in order to destroy parasitic insects or pests. However, bedbug poison is almost never powder or fine - preparations in this form are usually harmless to bedbugs, which physically cannot eat them and get poisoned.
The fact is that bed bugs are obligate bloodsuckers, unable to feed on anything other than the blood of mammals. This means that an effective poison from them is a remedy that either enters the lungs of the parasite with inhaled air, or is able to penetrate the hard chitinous covers of its body. It is these drugs that are used today to kill bedbugs, and it is from them that you should choose which bedbug poison to buy in a particular situation.

A huge variety of remedies for bedbugs can be divided into several groups:
- Bedbug spray concentrates, which are concentrated solutions of insecticidal preparations with the addition of excipients (that is, the concentrate must be diluted with water before use). They are sold in different volumes, depending on the purpose. Spray concentrates targeted at the home user are usually sold in 50 or 100 ml bottles, and if properly diluted, this amount should be enough to treat one apartment. Most often, it is these concentrates that are used by professional exterminators and are sold in plastic cans for this audience. Great care must be taken when using them.
- Aerosols are ready-made and diluted products in the required concentration, sold in cylinders and ready for use. Aerosol preparations are most convenient for home use, but in practice they lose a little in efficiency to sprays.

Not every drug from these groups will be effective in a particular case. Among populations of bugs, there are those that have time to develop resistance to a particular insecticide, and therefore it is not always possible to buy poison from bugs, which will absolutely destroy them. However, by choosing the most reliable and proven means, you can minimize the likelihood of failure in the fight against bedbugs.
Aerosols from bedbugs: simplicity, availability, safety
It is easiest to buy a bedbug remedy from this group: aerosols are sold in hardware stores, pharmacies and markets. The following drugs have proven themselves best:
- Raptor from crawling insects (Turkey) with the smell of mint - contains three powerful insecticides (cypermethrin, tetramethrin, piperonyl butoxide), which virtually eliminates the likelihood of developing resistance in parasites to it. The price of a 350 ml bottle is about 100 rubles, the volume of the bottle is enough to treat a room with an area of 50-60 m².
- Kombat (Korea), also available with flavors.This bedbug poison costs more than the Raptor - about 200 rubles per cylinder, and is approximately the same in terms of efficiency.
- Chisty Dom is an aerosol against bedbugs based on cypermethrin and tetramethrin. In general, we can say that this is a universal drug that allows you to destroy bedbugs, cockroaches, fleas and other insects in the house.
- Dichlorvos-Neo, which has nothing to do with the old Dichlorvos and contains Permethrin at its core. Effective and inexpensive - you can buy this remedy for bedbugs for about 60 rubles.

- Klopoveron is a Soviet development, considered one of the most effective. It is extremely difficult to buy it, for a person it is practically harmless, but it destroys bedbugs reliably. It is sold in the form of a powder, which must be dissolved in water. 250 grams of it cost about 1800 rubles.
- Tetrix is another drug used almost exclusively by professional exterminators. It has a strong unpleasant odor, is available in cans and bottles, requires dilution with water.Effective but difficult to work with.
- Sinuzan - has an original composition, but in application and in its properties is similar to Tetrix. Smells even stronger.
- Executioner - a remedy for bedbugs for domestic use. Developed in Germany, it is relatively inexpensive (70 rubles - 1 small bottle, about 20 bottles are required for a standard apartment). Safe to use, no strong suffocating odor (medium odor) and really effective.
- Bedbug Remedy Get (Get) - a preparation containing a microencapsulated suspension of insecticide, which retains its effectiveness until the agent is washed off the surface. It has a contact action, destroys bedbugs that simply run over the treated surface. Virtually odorless.
- Delta-Zone (about 500 rubles per 50 ml) and Lambda-Zone (600 rubles per 50 ml) are analogues of Get, also produced using microencapsulation technology. One bottle of each drug is enough to treat a room of 100 m².
- Karbofos is a well-known drug that has conflicting reviews and can cause side effects in processors. Inexpensive and known for killing both adult bed bugs and their eggs. It is produced both in the form of a powder and in the form of a concentrated solution, it has an unpleasant odor.

Folk poisons from bedbugs
Of the folk remedies for bedbugs, kerosene, turpentine, vinegar, and denatured alcohol can be effective. They poison insects upon direct contact with them (rather, they do not even poison, but burn and suffocate).
However, in practice, these remedies for bedbugs are ineffective - it is physically impossible to treat all insects with them, and therefore some of the parasites will probably remain alive. At the same time, such products have an unpleasant odor, and after using them in the apartment itself, the risk of a fire increases (kerosene, turpentine and alcohol are highly flammable liquids and produce explosive vapors).
Means such as decoctions of wormwood and tansy are also poisonous to bedbugs, but in real conditions they can only be used to scare them away and protect the premises from the penetration of parasites.
How to choose poison for a particular situation?
When choosing poison for bedbugs, you should be guided by several main considerations.
If there are few bedbugs in the room, and you roughly know the places of their possible deployment, then it is advisable to try to limit yourself to using an aerosol preparation. However, one must be prepared for two stages of parasite elimination, re-treatment after about 2-4 weeks (to kill young larvae that hatch from surviving eggs).
With a large number of bedbugs in the room, it is advisable to use sprays. Of these, one should prefer effective products without a strong odor, oriented for domestic use (preparations Get, Dobrokhim Micro, etc.)
And only where it is absolutely impossible to buy special sprays and aerosols (say, areas remote from large cities), you can fight bedbugs with the help of folk remedies.But here you need to be prepared for multiple treatments, bad smell in the room and possible failures.

Together with bedbug poison, special traps and Velcro can be used (there is also the so-called bedbug glue).
