Getting rid of bedbugs folk remedies

For all the time of the fight against harmful insects, people have come up with many recipes that should make the bugs disappear without a trace. But if some of them really work, then some are pure myth and do not even have a placebo effect.

Removing bedbugs with folk remedies is mostly fun for the especially economical, and only until the parasites breed in sufficient quantities and begin to torment the residents of the room for real.

Folk methods of getting rid of bedbugs in the house

If bedbugs have started in the house, the very first thing to do is to objectively assess the situation. Folk remedies for bedbugs are effective in cases where there are few parasites and it is known exactly where they were localized.

In general, getting rid of bedbugs with folk remedies is quite difficult, since for the most part these remedies do not destroy, but only repel parasites.

But if you still decide not to buy ready-made insecticides, but to use some effective folk remedy for bedbugs, then let's see what we have, so to speak, "in service".

The main folk methods of dealing with bedbugs today are:

  • The mechanical method is the usual use of a vacuum cleaner and a slipper.
  • action of high temperatures. Folk advice suggests taking out furniture with bedbugs in the cold or burning insect nests with steam and boiling water.
  • Wormwood and tansy, laid out around the apartment and repelling bedbugs with their smell.
  • Chemical pungent liquids: solutions of turpentine, kerosene and naphthalene, salicylic acid, denatured alcohol, kerosene, aviation fluid and vinegar.

Review

“When the neighbors told us that they had bedbugs, I was in a panic. We have a small child, it's scary to poison the apartment with chemicals. We decided to use the grandmother's recipe - fresh branches of wormwood were scattered throughout the rooms. I don’t know if it helped or the bugs simply didn’t reach us, but I didn’t see a single parasite. ”

Anastasia, Kaliningrad

Wormwood and tansy from bedbugs

Wormwood is a bitter herb with a pungent odor that a person tolerates normally. Like many other folk remedies for bed bugs, wormwood repels insects primarily by smell.

Wormwood repels bedbugs with its smell

Parasites really do not like the smell of this herb, but they will not die or run away from the apartment from it. The maximum that can be achieved is some calm for a while. But when the bugs get hungry again, the bitter aroma of wormwood won't stop them.

Tansy is another folk remedy for bedbugs in an apartment. It is a poisonous plant with yellow flowers that only appear in summer. During this period, its bushes need to be collected and dried. The method of application is as follows: spread the tansy in those places where the bugs live. You can put it right under the mattress of the bed, under the back of the sofa. The bugs cannot tolerate the neighborhood with this plant and simply run away.

Tansy

Tansy is toxic, so you can not leave it freely available to children and animals. When using the product, it is worth regularly ventilating the room.

This is not to say that the remedy is useless, but it cannot be called a panacea either. The bugs, having felt the tansy, really leave - but where? They will try to find a clean corner of the plant, perhaps just in another room.

Tansy, like wormwood, is a good idea to use to prevent the penetration of bedbugs into the house. Moreover, it will be directed against a number of domestic parasites (cockroaches, fleas).

Tansy also works well in order to clear a specific area from bedbugs. For example, you can lay it out in bed and scatter it around, remembering to open the window at night. Most likely, the bugs will not disturb you that night.

Bed bug vinegar solution

Among the inhabitants, such a folk remedy for bedbugs as an ordinary solution of vinegar is very popular. This popularity is due to the cheapness of the drug and its availability, as well as safety for humans.

Table vinegar is a popular folk remedy for bed bugs.

It is worth knowing that vinegar, like fragrant herbs, only repels bedbugs for a while and practically does not harm their lives. And in order to achieve such a result, you need to carefully and carefully process every centimeter of the surface, spending a lot of effort on it.

The stronger the vinegar solution used, the more effective it is against bed bugs. We can say that it poses the same danger for an insect as for a person: it is destructive only in large quantities.

Vinegar has proven itself well as a prophylactic. They can process possible places of penetration of insects - the perimeter of windows, window sills, cracks in the walls, ventilation shafts. But due to the rapid weathering of the smell, the treatment will have to be repeated quite often.

Vinegar works best in conjunction with other chemicals. Several similar recipes are known:

  • In equal parts, mix vinegar, 90% alcohol and naphthalene. This mixture only works on direct contact with the insect and can be used as an alternative to aerosol when the parasite is detected.
  • Vinegar with a decoction of wormwood is an excellent prophylactic that repels bedbugs with a pungent odor. They should also handle possible insect entry routes.

Review:

“For a long time I thought about how to get bedbugs out with folk remedies. Well, I didn’t want to poison the dacha with different chemistry, so that later my grandchildren would breathe it. A neighbor advised to sprinkle vinegar everywhere. The first night it seemed like there were no bedbugs, and then they got out again. And yes, the stench was terrible.I ordered my son in the city to buy something good from these parasites. He brought the "Executioner", processed it and did not see a single living bug again.

Sofia Petrovna, Krasnograd

And further: Poison bugs, but they appear again? It's time to think about prevention, and this is a delicate matter ...

How to Get Rid of Bedbugs with Homemade Chemical Solutions

There are many chemical solutions freely available that can also be used to combat bed bugs.

Ammonia

It should be remembered that these are radical and toxic folk remedies against bedbugs, which can be very dangerous for humans and animals. Experts do not recommend using them on their own because of the high risk of poisoning. Among them:

  • Denatured alcohol. Pure denatured alcohol works effectively against live bugs, their eggs and larvae. Therefore, if you know exactly where the bugs are, you can safely water them with denatured alcohol. The insects will immediately die. It makes no sense to treat them with surfaces. You should also take care of fire safety measures during work, as denatured alcohol is combustible.
  • Ammonia. Bed bugs really don't like the smell of ammonia. You can pour it into saucers, which are then placed near places where insects accumulate. Another version of the mixture: 150 g of denatured alcohol, 40 g of benzene, 10 g of ammonia. Naturally, the liquid on the saucers is a deadly threat to pets.
  • Kerosene, naphthalene, cresol. 10 g of naphthalene and 100 ml of cresol are dissolved in 200 ml of kerosene, after which the mixture is picked up with a brush and used to treat bedbug habitats.
  • Turpentine, camphor. 10 ml of turpentine, 15 ml of kerosene, 100 ml of water and 300 g of liquid soap, or 100 ml of ethyl alcohol and turpentine, 5 g of camphor. These liquids are very poisonous and are also used to treat areas near bed bug nests.
  • Aviation fluid. It is used in its pure form, as denatured alcohol, for processing nests.

Important!

All household chemical bed bug solutions are highly toxic. Some of the mixtures can corrode rubber gloves and the skin of the hands or damage the respiratory tract. Before starting the preparation of the mixture and processing, be sure to prepare the most reliable means of protection.

The destruction of bedbugs with folk remedies is a rather difficult, and sometimes completely impossible task. The effect is achieved only if the number of parasites is still small and there is no total infection of the apartment.

But still, home remedies for bedbugs do not need to be completely discounted. They can be a great addition to the action of the main insecticide., and also serve to prevent the entry of bedbugs into the house.

In order to completely and completely remove unpleasant insects from the premises, the most reasonable solution would be to contact the dezservice or buy insecticides adapted for home use and the destruction of bedbugs. From modern means, you can, for example, pay attention to the Get bedbug preparation, created using microencapsulation technology, which is very effective and at the same time practically odorless.

I want to tell my story. How do we deal with these pests? I will say right away that this is a very long process that requires patience. But from my own experience I can say that they can be introduced. We also struggled with bed bugs. Initially, we moved into an apartment that we inherited from our grandfather. All hung with carpets, furniture of unknown years. The renovation was planned gradually. One room was ennobled, it is very bright, there is constant sun. A large room due to carpets, walls, and a balcony is very dark. The bugs only bit me. I am allergic and asthmatic, the skin is very sensitive, it swells up with any irritants.

So, they only bit me, but my husband did not believe me, they threw everything on mosquitoes. I did not stop there, I removed all the carpets from the walls. And since the floors are old, the carpet that was on the wall was put on the floor (I like to sit on the floor). But there were constant bites. Then one day I saw a bug on the wall. I called my husband, he said it was just a bug.

In general, while we still understand who and what worries us, a decent amount of time has passed. They have bred quite well. We live on the 9th floor, there have been no repairs in the house for 40 years. The gastriks settled in the basement, who were periodically evicted. They began to look for help on the Internet.I shoveled a lot, because at night I simply could not sleep. I have a panic fear of insects, and when you still know who and what bites you, it’s indescribable.

I only slept during the day. At the same time, I have cats, and not one. And I also have asthma. With all this, we could not leave for a week to process the apartment. I found a recipe that more or less suited us, but changed it a little.

    === Green soap - 4 parts; turpentine - 1 part; kerosene - 2 parts; water - 12 parts;
Green soap is dissolved in warm water, turpentine and kerosene are added with thorough shaking.

    === Turpentine - 12 parts; kerosene - 6 parts; denatured alcohol - 3 parts; naphthalene - 1 part.
Method of application: wash with warm water the places where the bugs and their larvae are located, and apply one of these compositions with a brush. This operation is repeated for several days until the bugs disappear.

I decided to fight with folk remedies. I bought wormwood grass, put it in bags in wardrobes with clothes. I made an infusion of grass (not in bags) and with this infusion I washed the floors without wringing out a rag, left it like that for the night. Once.

Then I bought turpentine and tar soap. The husband collected turpentine in a syringe, and poured it into all the cracks. By that time, we had thrown everything out of the room except for the wall. Didn't sleep in the room. The nursery was in an armchair and a carpet that lay on the floor. We were lucky we only had bed bugs in one room which is the darkest during the daytime. Bed bugs cannot tolerate daylight. The husband, when he lifted the chair and bedbugs crawled from it, only then did he believe me.
After that, they walked with turpentine. The room was closed for several hours.

And at night they rubbed the walls and floors with soap. The soap is softened in hot water. To get a liquid, like pancakes: not thick and not liquid.
The activity of these creatures begins after 2 nights and before dawn. So my husband and I at the beginning of the third went into the room, turned on the light and began to kill them. And so every day for two weeks, constantly passed through with soapy water. Each time made fresh and in hot water. After that, twice a week. The aroma is indescribable, but it's better to endure it! The floors were not washed, only vacuumed.

I also want to say that adult bedbugs are visible. But the small ones are very hard to see. We stood at the walls for half an hour and peered. If you take a quick look, you can’t see anything, but as soon as it starts to move, you can notice a barely visible point (the smallest ones are the most nasty, they bite very painfully, because they are hungry and they need to grow).

Now I can say that we got rid of it. As it turned out, our house was completely infected. And they came to us from the neighbors, who also quietly poisoned and they spread to the neighbors. I believe that you should not be shy and hush up the problem, as the bugs will run across. It is necessary to bring them out together with the whole entrance.

Good luck to everyone who has encountered such parasites! I would be glad if our method helps someone else.

I removed the bugs with dichlorvos, closed all the windows and immediately used the entire spray, and closed the doors. And I was not at home for a day, then I came, washed everything, ventilated the apartment. And thank God, I got rid of it. I hope forever...

I was helped by shampoo for cats and dogs from ticks and other creatures. He smells okay. The bed bugs were everywhere, most of all in the bed, in the crevices of the ceiling tiles and behind the baseboards. She diluted a large amount of shampoo in water to a thick foam and soaked the bed, paying attention to the places where bedbugs accumulated. You can spray directly from the spray bottle. Foam passed through the cracks of the tiles, splashed into the baseboard. They died before their eyes from this shampoo. Try it!

Hello, thanks for the shampoo idea. I bought a shampoo - the first one that caught my eye in the All for Animals section. It is written about the shampoo that it is from fleas and bedbugs ... Not to say that it smelled good, somehow poisonous even. But I want to note 100% action! Thanks for posting about it here. Or even cry. Once I cleaned sofas, corners with a rag in gloves ... There were so many dead bugs lying around in half an hour. But then, from somewhere else, fleas appeared. Some sort of invasion. Shampoo does not work on fleas. I will buy a Raptor aerosol from ticks, fleas and bedbugs ... Universal, from all at once. Thanks to everyone who posted and advised here. You are my saviors! And then there was no mood. Also bugs bit at night. By the way, I ironed the sofas with an iron at the highest temperature, and all the sheets and linen.I advise now also shampoo, this is a real salvation! Now, for prevention, I still spray the plinth and all corners from the sprayer.

They called in specialists, imposed "fancy" funds, we already agreed to everything. Nothing helped. 2 times treated with dichlorvos. In vain. I'll try shampoo. Thanks to everyone who wrote and advised.

I went to the neighbors both upstairs and downstairs - everyone refused and made big eyes: what are you, we don’t have it! And I decided to call through the SES. They flooded everything that was possible, and even the corridor and the kitchen, since I ordered deep processing. But alas, as they were, so they are. I tried all means (dichlorvos, etc.), even vinegar. After the vinegar, it seems to me, they became even more. I'm just tired of fighting them. Here, I want to try wormwood and shampoo. But it seems to me that they are crawling from a neighbor from above ((Some kind of horror. They also write that you can dust and boric acid in powder.

My foreman told me a story about how he received a book on medicine from moving neighbors and got bedbugs with it. He suffered for a very long time, there followed a story about the fight against parasites: how he moved the bed away from the wall, put the legs of the bed in cans of kerosene, how these reptiles, climbing onto the ceiling, jumped on him from above ... The story ended with the fact that, having arrived in the village to mother, he shared his trouble with his mother. Mother’s friends were sitting nearby and gave advice: “Son, buy a ripe melon, take the pulp from it with seeds that is inside (not the melon itself) and rub all the baseboards in the apartment.” He did just that.I bought two melons, half of one was enough. The effect is instant. Since then, he did not know about pests.

Try Medilis Super or Medilis Malathion (all stages of bed bugs). There are instructions on the manufacturer's website. The executioner is still praised, but there the active ingredient is fenthion (27%), as in Medilis super.

Maybe more tar soap? From him, the fleas died well, right before my eyes, when I washed the dog with them. Might help with bed bugs too.

Mattresses stuffed with hay are very healthy! And if you add wormwood, tansy, wild rosemary, chamomile to this hay ... The bugs will go away. And next summer, the filler of SUCH mattress will need to be updated.
