Let's see if the Zonder remedy is really effective in the fight against bed bugs and how those who have already managed to test it in practice speak about the drug ...

Sonder Insecticide is a Dutch preparation designed primarily to kill blood-sucking insects such as bed bugs and fleas, but is equally effective against cockroaches, ants and other domestic insects. Due to some features of its composition and mechanism of action, the Zonder drug, having appeared on the market relatively recently, quickly gained popularity not only among ordinary owners of apartments infected with bedbugs, but also among professional exterminators.

However, is this drug really that good and are there any pitfalls when using it? Is the relatively high effectiveness of the Zonder bedbug remedy related to its increased toxicity to humans, and how do those who have already managed to test it in practice speak of the drug? Let's figure it out...

Perhaps, first of all, it should be borne in mind that Zonder is positioned as a drug for the professional destruction of bedbugs. In other words, it is intended primarily for use by employees of special pest control services involved in the destruction of harmful insects.

The drug Zonder is positioned as a means for the professional destruction of bed bugs.

Accordingly, the drug is intended primarily for use by employees of pest control services.

Two important conclusions can be drawn from this:

  • The drug was originally developed with an emphasis on maximum efficiency in relation to bed bugs and other synanthropic insects. Professional exterminators are very sensitive about the choice of drugs they work with, and would not use an ineffective product. Every self-respecting company will use only those drugs that work for sure, and the Zonder bedbug remedy in this regard continues to actively gain popularity in the professional environment;
  • And the second important conclusion is that the use of the Zonder preparation is somewhat more laborious than the use of any remedy completely adapted for domestic use. Simply put, this is not Dichlorvos or Raptor popping in an apartment (which, by the way, often do not give a stable and lasting effect after treatment). You will have to dilute the concentrate yourself, observing the ratios specified in the instructions, and then you will need to correctly process the room with a spray gun. About how to properly treat an apartment from bedbugs and what nuances should be taken into account, we will talk a little lower.

On a note

The Zonder insecticidal preparation is produced in Holland and sold in 50, 100, 250, 500 and 1000 ml aluminum bottles, as well as in 5 liter plastic canisters.

Update as of September 19, 2019: Zonder is currently also produced in Russia in 50 ml plastic bottles.

The originality of the drug is confirmed by the presence of a hologram on the bottle (holograms are different on Dutch and Russian drugs), and there is also a manufacturer's logo on the cap (only the Netherlands).

The composition of Zonder and its effect on bedbugs and other insects

A very important point from a practical point of view is the fact that the Zonder bedbug remedy contains three active substances of different chemical nature:

  • Insecticide from the group of pyrethroids;
  • Insecticide from the group of organophosphorus compounds;
  • As well as a synergistic substance that enhances the effect of both of the above insecticides, while being an enteric-contact pesticide on its own.

As a result, the likelihood that bedbugs will be resistant to three components at once is negligible.

The composition of the drug includes three insecticides at once, so the likelihood of bedbugs getting used to the Zonder remedy is practically excluded.

Used insecticides are capable of exerting contact and intestinal toxic effects on insects. In the case of bed bugs, it is the contact action that is important, since the bugs feed exclusively on blood, and it is simply impossible to force them to eat any poisoned bait. Meanwhile, a pronounced intestinal toxic effect makes it possible to effectively use the Zonder remedy for the destruction of cockroaches and domestic ants.

As for the contact poisoning effect, insecticides, even with simple contact with the chitinous integuments of parasites, enter the hemolymph and have a nerve-paralytic effect. As a result, the bugs die quite quickly, and the speed of the onset of the effect to a certain extent depends on the amount of active substances that got on the body of the parasite, which, in turn, directly depends on the quality of the treatment of the room.

The components of the product have a nerve-paralytic effect on bedbugs ...

Review

“In our hostel there was no life from bedbugs. Whatever they tried, nothing takes these reptiles. At first they seem to disappear, and after a few days they bite again. We tried Zonder, we don’t have it in the city, they delivered it from Moscow. They worked very carefully, watered all the cracks where the bugs could hide. The smell was not very pleasant, but the next day everything was fine. And the bugs really disappeared! At first I didn’t believe for a long time, everyone thought that they would start biting again, this had happened many times already. But no, two months have already passed, and there are no bedbugs to be seen ... "

Christina, Chelyabinsk

It is also worth noting that the Zonder remedy belongs to the so-called microencapsulated preparations: the active substances are not just dissolved, but are in the form of the smallest particles separated from each other that form a microemulsion. And although advertising often exaggerates the merits of microencapsulated insecticidal preparations, nevertheless, it is worth paying tribute - ceteris paribus, in this form, the drug works much more efficiently than when the insecticide is in a true solution, without microparticles.

The thing is that after the treated surfaces have dried, microcapsules of the drug remain on them (provided that they were not erased during wet cleaning). And if a bug runs over such a surface, then the microcapsules very effectively stick to the legs and body of the parasite, causing poisoning due to contact action after a while. Moreover, the bug often manages to return to its nest back: here it contacts with its “brothers”, including larvae, thereby providing a kind of chain poisoning effect.

The photo shows an example of a bed bug nest.

Thus, it can be noted that, unlike some other insecticidal preparations, Zonder works not only directly at the time of treatment, when the agent solution sprayed on the surface and in the air settles on insects, but also for a very long time after the treatment of the premises, provided that the treated surfaces are not washed.

And further: Poison bugs, but they appear again? It's time to think about prevention, and this is a delicate matter ...

During processing, there is a characteristic specific smell, which, however, quickly disappears when the room is ventilated (within a few hours).

On a note

It is useful to keep in mind that the Zonder bedbug remedy is far from the only microencapsulated preparation.These include, for example, insect repellents Get, Delta Zone, Lambda Zone and some others. However, a rather rare feature of the Zonder preparation is the combination of microencapsulation and combined composition, while, for example, the above preparations are single-component, that is, they contain only one insecticide (chlorpyrifos, deltamethrin and lambda-cyhalothrin, respectively).

Zonder is a rather rare example of a multi-component microencapsulated drug.

According to the manufacturer, the residual effect of the Zonder drug lasts for 5-7 weeks. This is enough not only to destroy the parasites already present in the apartment, but also to provide a certain level of preventive protection of the premises from the penetration of individual bedbugs from neighbors into it.

Review

“We brought out bedbugs with Zonder. Before that, they unsuccessfully poisoned with Fufanon, did not corrode. And when they bought Zonder, he destroyed the bugs completely at a time - only the corpses were then swept away with a broom. The bugs begin to die immediately, while you are still spraying. They crawl out right under their feet, behave strangely, it is clear that they feel bad ... "

Instructions for use of the drug Zonder

Generally speaking, the instructions for using the Zonder bedbug remedy look quite standard for this type of drug. And, perhaps, the main thing to keep in mind is not to rely too much on the wording about the safety of the drug for humans and animals and be sure to use personal protective equipment (respirator, gloves) when working. After all, no matter how safe the drug is in circulation, with the active inhalation of any sprayed insecticidal aerosol, this will definitely not add health to you.

When working with any insecticidal preparations, it is imperative to use personal protective equipment ...

Further.First of all, on the basis of the purchased Zonder concentrate, you need to properly prepare a working emulsion. Professional exterminators cope with this without problems, however, for domestic use, taking into account the different levels of education of people, problems are not ruled out: normally, the agent is diluted with water in a ratio of 5: 1000, that is, 5 ml of concentrate is added per liter of water.

But how to measure 5 ml? Do not try to do this by eye with a glass or a teaspoon - not only will the error be too large, but there is also a risk of forgetting to wash the dishes after that. You can, for example, use a regular plastic syringe or measuring cap.

The photo below shows a bottle of Zonder bedbug remedy, just bought and not yet opened:

Insecticide Zonder

The concentrate has the color of weak tea, has a characteristic specific smell. The finished solution has a milky white color:

This is how the Zonder solution looks like after diluting the concentrate with water.

Professional exterminators note (and this is indicated in the instructions for use of the drug) that due to the high resistance of bedbug populations in Russian cities to insecticides, in order to increase the reliability of treatment, the product should be diluted in high concentrations. Namely, use 15-20 ml of the drug, in some cases bringing the concentration up to 30 ml of Zonder per 1 liter of water.

After adding the concentrate to the water, the solution must be thoroughly mixed, after which it can be poured into an ordinary household spray bottle - you can use the simplest home sprinklers to apply the drug, including from various detergents.

The resulting mixture is evenly applied from a spray gun to all surfaces where bugs can hide and on which these parasites can move.In particular, for the effective destruction of bedbugs in an apartment, Zonder must be applied in the following places:

  1. Bed frames, sofas and armchairs;
  2. Cracks in the walls;
  3. Plinth, lower surface of window sills;
  4. Wallpaper breaks and places where they peel off the walls;
  5. Books on the shelves;
  6. Back walls of furniture, paintings, shelves;
  7. Carpets hanging on the walls, especially their back side;
  8. Internal surfaces of cabinets and bedside tables;
  9. Door frames;
  10. Ventilation grates;
  11. Sockets.

When destroying bedbugs in an apartment, special attention should be paid to processing the frames of sofas, beds, and armchairs.

When processing, do not forget about the back and inner walls of the furniture - often the nests of parasites are located here.

It is also necessary to pay attention to the processing of sockets, since bedbug nests can also be found here.

If bedbugs were found in other places of the apartment, the drug should also be applied here.

On a note

The instructions for use of the drug detail all the places that need to be processed. Moreover, there is a processing scheme in pictures, which is very convenient for self-processing of the room.

For 1 sq. m. of a non-absorbent surface, about 50 ml of a working solution is applied, and for 1 sq. m. absorbent - 100 ml. A 100 ml bottle of concentrate is enough to process a one-room apartment, and 1 liter of concentrate is enough to process a medium-sized private house.

After treatment, it is advisable not to wash those surfaces that people and pets will not touch for 1-2 weeks - the back walls of furniture, the reverse sides of carpets, etc. This will allow the product to show its residual effect and destroy the bedbugs in the room as completely as possible.

However, it should be noted that the instructions for the Zonder preparation (as, indeed, for many other means for combating bedbugs) do not talk about some important points, without which all efforts to destroy bedbugs can soon be reduced to zero. Let's take a closer look at these points...

What is especially important to consider in practice when dealing with bedbugs

There are several important nuances, the consideration of which will significantly increase the effectiveness of the use of Zonder:

  1. Even before processing the premises, you should find out if the neighbors have bedbugs. After all, if parasites constantly creep into your apartment from neighboring rooms, then even the most thorough treatment with an effective drug will give only a temporary result. If bedbugs come from neighbors, then you need to figure out which ones, and carry out the processing itself together, preferably on the same day (sometimes all neighboring apartments turn out to be infected - side, as well as above and below). Even if it was possible to agree with the neighbors (and even more so if it was not possible), it is recommended to change the standard ventilation grill to a fine mesh. The Zonder preparation must be applied to all the ways in which bedbugs can enter the room - ventilation grilles, front door frames, window frames;Often, single bedbugs enter the apartment from neighbors ...
  2. Bedbugs and their eggs can be found in clothes and bed linen - all this should be washed at the highest possible temperature (even at a temperature of 60 ° C, the parasites already die). If a thing is undesirable to wash, then freezing helps - in winter you can simply take things out to the balcony or outside (the temperature should be below minus 22 ° C, only in this case the eggs of parasites will be destroyed);It should be borne in mind that bedbugs and their eggs are often found on clothing, so it should be washed at a high temperature.Clothes potentially infested with bedbugs should be washed at the highest possible temperature (not lower than 60 degrees Celsius).
  3. Bed bug nests are often found in damaged and folded mattresses. If you don’t want to process them with “chemistry”, then it is highly advisable to go through an ordinary household steam cleaner (steamer).The photo shows an example of a bed bug nest in a mattress.To destroy bedbugs and their eggs in the mattress, you can treat it with hot steam, for example, using a steamer.
It is also useful to read: Getting rid of bedbugs folk remedies

And further: We catch bedbugs and put deadly experiments on them - this is a must see!

In general, when fighting bedbugs, it is important not only to choose the right effective drug (and Zonder would be a pretty good choice in this regard), but you also need to be able to correctly apply the selected insecticidal agent. And here unprepared bedbug fighters make the same mistake with enviable regularity.

It would seem that it is enough just to treat the room with a powerful tool once - and that's it, the bugs should die quickly, and you can forget about your torment once and for all. In reality, the situation with a strong infestation of the room with bedbugs may be as follows: in the first few days after treatment, the bedbugs die en masse and in fact cease to bother. However, often within a week, night bites suddenly return, and the residents are perplexed: what is it, did the drug really not work, or maybe a fake was bought? And sometimes, as they say, give up.

So, it is important to understand that bedbug eggs, due to their dense protective shell, are resistant to the vast majority of insecticides. Accordingly, a few days after the use of the drug, larvae hatch from them, which sometimes (if they still do not die) begin to bite people again. And if additional measures are not taken at this key moment to destroy the larvae, then in a few weeks they will turn into adults and begin to multiply, laying new eggs.

Bed bug eggs can survive even after using a powerful insecticide.

Bed bug larvae will hatch from the eggs that survive after the treatment of the premises within a few weeks.

Bed bug larvae feed on blood.

It is for this reason that in the case of a severe infection of the apartment with bedbugs, it is highly desirable to re-treat the premises 2 weeks after the first.If the Zonder preparation is used, then the “young shoots” die to a large extent in the very first days after hatching from the eggs - due to the long-term residual effect of microcapsules remaining on the treated surfaces, however, this residual effect is not always enough.

Even if a fairly effective drug is used, for example, Zonder, in advanced cases, it is desirable to re-treat the apartment a couple of weeks after the first.

If there is any doubt whether to process the apartment again or not, it is better to process it without relying on “maybe”. If bedbugs have a chance to survive, they will definitely take advantage of it.

Can Zonder be used to control other synanthropic insects?

Generally speaking, Zonder is an insecticidal agent that destroys almost any insect, despite the fact that the drug is positioned primarily as a remedy for bedbugs. Simply put, it doesn’t matter at all whether the pyrethroid and the organophosphate insecticide affect the nervous system of a bug or, for example, a fly or a cockroach: in any case, the insect will be destroyed fairly quickly.

In practice, the Zonder tool effectively destroys not only bedbugs, but also cockroaches, fleas, domestic ants and other insects.

Understanding this, you can effectively use the Zonder preparation to destroy a wide variety of parasites and pests, taking into account their biology and specific behavior. For example:

  1. Cockroaches;
  2. Bloch;
  3. Ants;
  4. Moth;
  5. Hornets and wasps;
  6. Mokrits (in bathrooms and toilets, as well as in attics and basements);
  7. Ticks (in the area near the house).

And etc.

About the safety of the product for humans and pets

As noted above (and despite any assurances of advertising), the Zonder drug, as well as most other insecticidal agents, cannot be considered absolutely safe for humans and pets.If significant amounts of it enter the digestive tract and respiratory tract, poisoning is possible, and if the drug enters the skin, then some sensitive people may experience allergic reactions.

When working with any insecticidal agent, including Zonder, some caution should be observed.

Only with proper handling of the drug and the use of personal protective equipment can Zonder be considered completely safe for human health.

Nevertheless, if we compare Zonder with some other insecticidal preparations focused on professional use, then it is worth recognizing that for humans and pets, the product is relatively safe when handled correctly. At the very least, it would take a thorough "try" to get serious poisoning: such cases are quite possible if you accidentally drink a concentrate or do not use a respirator during a long treatment of the apartment.

According to the instructions, all work with the Zonder bedbug preparation should be carried out using personal protective equipment:

  1. Rubber chemical resistant gloves;
  2. Respirator;
  3. Glasses that protect the eyes from getting the drug into them.

It is also highly advisable to work in long-sleeved clothing and a cap to protect yourself from getting the product on your skin and hair.

On a note

Before processing, all people and pets must be removed from the premises. Vases with flowers are covered with plastic bags, the aquarium is covered with a cover glass. In the aquarium, turn off the compressor so that air with the drug does not enter the water (the active ingredients of Zonder are highly toxic to aquatic organisms).

After treatment, the apartment should be closed for several hours, then thoroughly ventilated, and the surfaces with which children and pets will come into contact should be washed.

When using Zonder, most of the bedbugs die in the first few hours after treatment.

Dead bugs can be on the floor, furniture, and can also remain in their secluded nests.

Review

“We used Zonder from bedbugs and were satisfied.The tool helped from one time, although we were ready for the fact that we would have to do re-processing. Bought in some eco-service, I don’t remember the name exactly. We took only one bottle, and it's good, because no more was needed. The only thing is that I got a little hurt with it, my head hurt all evening, apparently I breathed in during processing, as they saved on a respirator. But the bugs all died, and this is the main thing.

Where and at what price can I buy a drug from Zonder bedbugs?

It is easiest to buy Zonder today in online stores, since the drug is poorly represented in physical outlets (although in rare cases it can be found on sale from companies engaged in the destruction of bedbugs and other insects).

Today it is easiest to buy Zonder bedbug remedy in online stores ...

The price of Zonder depends on the volume of the concentrate bottle:

  • 50 ml cost 450 rubles in a plastic bottle or 750 rubles in an aluminum bottle;
  • 100 ml cost 1400 rubles;
  • 250 ml cost 2600 rubles;
  • 500 ml cost 4500 rubles;
  • 1 l - 8000 rubles;
  • 5 l (canister) - 32,000 rubles.

In most cases, buyers order 100 and 250 ml bottles. As a rule, 100 ml is enough to treat a standard one-room apartment, 250 ml is enough to kill bedbugs in a two-room apartment when performing a double treatment.

It should be recognized that the price of the drug is quite high: for example, for 2500 rubles, you can order pest control by professionals (albeit with Russian drugs). However, as practice shows, a thorough double self-treatment of an apartment with a competent approach is often more effective than using third-party services - personal interest in a good result makes a significant contribution.

If you have personal experience with the Zonder bedbug remedy, do not forget to leave your feedback at the bottom of this page (in the comment box).

    In 2015, there was a problem with bedbugs ... After calling the disservice, the bedbugs disappeared for exactly 2 weeks, and then again the same problem. I read reviews on the Internet and bought a Zonder. It was treated by the same dezluzhba under warranty, but with my preparation. After treatment, the bugs disappeared on the same day and did not appear again.

    There is nothing to compare with, but it really helped me after another drug (I don’t know what they treated it with).

    Not a single site has instructions with the seal of ROSPOTREBNADZOR and a certificate. There is also no name of the active substances that make up this drug. It will not be difficult to write what is the most effective and best. I would not be surprised if there are cypermethrin and chlorpyrifos - the cheapest and oldest active ingredients.

    You can write anything you like, but the drug really helps against bedbugs, this has already been verified, as they say, “on your own skin”! For example, I am not at all interested in what substances are included in the composition, the main thing is that THEY ACT! But they really work, and helped to cope with bedbugs after other drugs, from which there was practically no sense at all.

    Zonder really helped! They didn’t believe, because they had already tried everything: both the SES and themselves were processed by various means, and all to no avail. For a while, it seemed to get smaller, but then it appeared again. And it feels like they were even bigger and meaner! And Zonder was treated 2 times, as recommended, the second time 2 weeks after the first treatment. NO bedbugs! At all. So Zonder really works!

    I took it specifically for change houses and work premises. And then he began to bring home, and the men complained. The process is elementary, dilute with water and go. Everything cleared up overnight. Well, there was, of course, a slight smell in the morning, but very minimal.All the bugs were blown away by the wind, more precisely, with a broom. Haven't reappeared yet. At a price of 2500 rubles, a fairly effective tool.

    The second year I keep the Zonder at the ready. Occasionally at construction sites, the problem with bedbugs arises, in change houses. Sonder is by far the simplest solution to the problem. Of the pluses - the price (2500 for a large bottle, I took 2, one open is still worth it). Elementary application, no need to close the change house for 3 days. In principle, I processed it in the morning, and in the evening you can already sleep. It smells, but quite a bit, and most importantly - performance! True, they write in the instructions that they need to be processed again after 2 weeks, but there was no such need, one treatment was enough.

    At the moment, I am very satisfied with Zonder, since nothing helped before. And I've been fighting bedbugs for more than six months, if not more. Usually after two weeks they reappear, and here for the third month there are no bugs. Yes, not cheap, but you need a little of it. Plus, one treatment is enough, and this is already saving on the re-purchase of funds. So the price is quite justified.
